Brece Vega era un pobre grumetillo que se ganaba la vida como podía en la cocina del navío Imperius. Un día, cansado de su perra vida, decidió marcharse del barco durante una escala en la una isla del Pacífico. Pero su capitán, Coyote Rojo, salió en su busca, ya que se llevó también todo el oro de la embarcación. El pobre grumetillo lo tenía difícil, ya que para conseguir reunirse con su amigo Pat, que se había escapado ya tenía que buscar un cofre volador que se encontrara en alguna parte de la isla, que le llevaría con su camarada.
